Boyd County fall hayride returns Nov. 1

BOYD COUNTY, Ky. — Families are invited to enjoy an afternoon of fall fun at Boyd County’s annual Fall Hayride on Sunday, Nov. 1, with free activities, entertainment, and a food drive benefiting River City Harvest.

Hosted at the old Boyd County football field, located at 12307 Midland Trail Road behind Boyd County Preschool, the event will run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and feature a variety of activities for children and families, including several new attractions.

“This year, we have a few new things we’re excited about,” said Kacy Abrams, Community Development Director for Boyd County Fiscal Court. “The Shriners’ train will be there, along with Honey Hill Farms bringing a new petting zoo. We’ll also have some of our community partners joining us to hand out free swag and goodies.”

Returning favorites will include the hayride, inflatables, face painting, balloon animals, Kona Ice, and concessions. Attendees can also enjoy a photo booth, crafts, and other activities throughout the afternoon.

The event is free to attend.

“We want everyone to be able to come out and have fun without worrying about the cost. We’re thankful for our sponsors who help make that possible,”  Abrams said.

The annual event began in 2023 at Armco Park, where its popularity quickly became apparent.

“We had so many the first year we ran out of parking,” Abrams said.

This marks the third year the event has been held at the old Boyd County football field. Organizers hope to continue growing the event while giving families an opportunity to spend time together and connect with their community.

“We just want families to have a fun evening together and make positive memories together. It’s a great way to enjoy the fall season and spend time with our community,” Abrams said.

In addition to the festivities, attendees are encouraged to participate in a food drive benefiting River City Harvest. With the holiday season approaching, organizers hope the donations will help support the organization’s holiday food baskets.

Abrams expressed appreciation for the sponsors, volunteers, and community partners who contribute to the event each year.

“I am so thankful for our sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who helps make this event happen. It would not be possible without them, and we look forward to seeing everyone come out and enjoy the evening,” she said.

Sponsors include Boyd County Government, Boyd County Economic Development, Marathon, UK King’s Daughters, Ashland Community & Technical College, Member’s Choice Credit Union, Kentucky Power, Davis Equipment Company, Pathways, River Valley Church, Ramey-Estep/ReGroup, and The Write Touch Studio.
