Carter Healthcare brings innovative sauna to Morehead
Morehead, KY – Carter Healthcare has expanded its commitment to accessible, whole-body wellness by introducing the Halo Salt Sauna at its Morehead location.
This service combines infrared heat with halotherapy (salt therapy) to provide a relaxing and health-supportive experience previously unavailable locally.
The Halo Salt Sauna is just the latest addition to their services, which began in 2023.
Kristin Yarman, APRN, shares the story behind Carter Healthcare’s growth.
“Carter Healthcare originally began as Carter Telehealth, where we provided virtual care services to patients in the area,” she said. “As we started seeing patients, it quickly became clear that there was a significant need for accessible, in-person walk-in care, especially in Olive Hill. In response, we expanded into a physical clinic to better serve our community with both convenience and continuity of care.”
The physical location of the Olive Hill clinic opened in September 2024.
“Our original vision was rooted in our love for this community and a true calling to serve it,” she says. “We wanted to provide compassionate, convenient walk-in care where patients feel seen, heard, and valued.”
Yarman says over time, Carter Healthcare expanded its services to include alternative therapies like red light therapy, offering patients solutions that promote long-term healing and improved quality of life.
Due to the demand and community connection to Morehead, Carter Healthcare expanded to Morehead in November.
“Expanding into Morehead felt like a natural next step. Many of our team have personal and professional ties here, including time spent at Morehead State University and local healthcare institutions,” Yarman says. “The support from both Olive Hill and Morehead has been incredible. Listening to patient needs helped shape our decision to bring these advanced wellness options to Morehead.”
The Halo Salt Sauna was added to the Morehead location last month, and they began accepting patients for this service last week.
The Halo Salt Sauna disperses microscopic salt particles into the air while infrared heat gently warms the body.
This combination promotes respiratory health, supports skin conditions, eases muscle and joint pain, enhances circulation, supports detoxification, and reduces stress.
“Many patients also report improvements in sleep quality and overall mental well-being,” Yarman says. Unlike traditional saunas, this therapy provides dry, deep-penetrating heat along with respiratory and immune support benefits.
Yarman says ideal candidates include those with respiratory concerns such as allergies, asthma, sinus congestion, and chronic bronchitis, as well as individuals experiencing inflammation, stress, fatigue, or chronic pain.
She says that athletes and active individuals often use the therapy for muscle recovery and circulation support. Pediatric and pregnant patients should consult their providers before use.

Olive Hill: Walk-in medical care, SoftWave therapy, red light therapy, and occupational therapy
Morehead: Red light therapy, SoftWave therapy, and Halo Salt Sauna. Walk-in care and occupational therapy are not currently offered at this location.
