Spring brings prime season for blacktop maintenance, says local contractor

Vanceburg, KY — As warmer temperatures approach, Bloomfield Blacktop, Sealing, Maintenance & Concrete is encouraging homeowners and business owners to begin planning for spring paving and maintenance projects.

Owned and operated by Danny Bloomfield, the family-run business in Camp Dix (near Olive Hill) has served the region since 2017, backed by decades of hands-on experience.

Bloomfield says he has worked in concrete and heavy equipment for 37 years and with blacktop and sealing for roughly 28 years.

According to Bloomfield, timing is key when it comes to blacktop work. “The season usually starts around late April to mid-May depending on the weather and temperatures for paving and sealing. We do striping, concrete and excavation year round.”

He added, “Spring is a great time to spruce up your home or business. And one way to make it stand out with great curb appeal is to reseal or repair your blacktop driveway or parking lot.” 

Bloomfield emphasizes that regular maintenance can significantly extend the life of pavement and prevent costly repairs. 

“Keeping up the maintenance of your blacktop is crucial in extending the life of your pavement and saving you money in the long run,” he said, and added that resealing every two to three years (more often for high-traffic areas) can help prevent cracking and deterioration.

He also cautions against common maintenance mistakes. 

“Some of the most common mistakes property owners do when it comes to blacktop maintenance is thinking that it doesn’t need to be resealed.” Bloomfield said, adding that ignoring cracks can lead to more severe and expensive damage over time.
