GRAYSON, Ky. — Those looking to add a little more flavor to their wild game or other home cooked dishes will have an opportunity to create their own custom spice blends during an upcoming workshop at Walking on Sunshine Wellness Spa and Shoppe in Grayson.
The culinary spice workshop is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 15, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Participants will learn about culinary spices and create their own blends of seasonings.
Attendance is limited to 12 people, and the cost is $50 per person.
Owner Pamela Howard said the workshop reflects the shoppe's broader focus on living off the earth and helping people discover practical ways to incorporate natural ingredients into their everyday lives.
Those interested in attending can register by visiting the shoppe at 207 N. Carol Malone Blvd. in Grayson and making payment in person or by calling (606) 225-7339 to register and pay over the phone.
The workshop is part of Howard's goal to offer monthly educational opportunities at Walking on Sunshine Wellness Spa and Shoppe. A December workshop will focus on creating homemade holiday gifts.
While the business offers an assortment of wellness and spa services, Howard said the shoppe has become an important part of its identity.
Customers can browse herbal blends, essential oils, fire honey, elderberry products and face creams and other items blended and made in-house.
The shoppe also carries powdered and dried leaves and herbs for customers interested in creating their own herbal combinations, along with products from vendors specializing in nontoxic candles and soaps.
Howard says education is a central component of her business.
Through its workshops, she hopes to increase awareness and give participants opportunities to learn about natural ingredients, products, and practices they can incorporate into their own lives. She says the business has hosted workshops covering a variety of subjects over the years and plans to continue expanding those offerings.
Walking on Sunshine Wellness Spa and Shoppe began approximately a decade ago as a foot spa and has evolved over the years.
Today, the family-owned business is operated by Howard and her son, offering both retail products and a range of spa and wellness services.
Those services include facials, massages, reflexology, waxing, dermaplaning, spray tans, hydrotherapy, herbal and detox soaks, energy work, and ionic foot detox.
The business also has an on-staff esthetician and offers services through a tattoo and permanent makeup artist, as well as birthday parties and bridal services.
Howard said the business's approach to wellness is rooted in providing non-toxic, clean and non-invasive options while emphasizing education and helping clients understand the products and services available to them.
Herbalist consultations are also available for individuals interested in exploring holistic approaches to their personal wellness needs.
